PTG STUDIOSGreat Taste” to feature The Body Shop®

--Holiday collection highlight of show --

May 29, 2007, Deerfield Beach, FLPlatinum Television Group is pleased to announce the selection of The Body Shop® for its innovative, educational television series, Great Taste. The Body Shop®, renowned for their naturally inspired cosmetics and dedication to the pursuit of social and environmental change will be featured in a segment on “Holiday Collection” in our Luxury Living Series.

The Body Shop® was founded by Anita Roddick in 1976 in Brighton, England simply as a means to create a livelihood for herself and her two daughters while her husband, Gordon, was trekking across the Americas.  Now, 30 years later, The Body Shop® is a global, multi-channel business with over 2,045 stores serving over 77 million customers in 51 different markets in 25 different languages and across 12 times zones.

The Body Shop® offers a wide collection of products made with naturally inspired ingredients sourced from Community Trade partners around the world.  Created over 15 years ago, The Body Shop® Community Trade program was Dame Anita Roddick’s vision to provide disadvantaged communities with the opportunity to secure a fair price for their goods, which would help them to support their families and sustain their business. For example, The Body Shop® trades with 6,500 beekeepers in Zambia to source honey – a wonderful moisturizer – for several products.  For other best-selling products, The Body Shop® sources cocoa butter from Kuapa Kokoo, a collective of cocoa farmers from Ghana, as well as babassu oil from Brazil.  Additionally, The Body Shop® imports Community Trade accessories, including massagers from India and loofah products from Honduras.

This is partly why The Body Shop® has been so successful, because of loyal clientele who believe in the company’s same core values. They use their stores and products to help communicate human rights and environmental issues. The company campaigns against human rights abuses, in favor of animal and environmental protection, and its commitment to challenge the stereotypes of beauty perpetuated by the cosmetics industry have won the support of generations of consumers.
